ISAS was created in 2005 by a group of students at Sauder in efforts to resist the faculty’s plan on tuition increase. It has evolved over the past ten years to become SISA: Sauder International Student Association.
We are a Commerce Undergraduate Society (CUS) service, and we represent 1348 international students—almost 40 percent of Sauder. SISA promotes global citizenship, and cross-cultural awareness among both international, and domestic students.
Our flagship event is the Thanksgiving Dinner, where students can experience a North American tradition in a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment.
WHO WE ARE
Hi! My name is Marina Chun and I'm the Co-Chair of SISA. I'm in my 2nd year at Sauder and intend to specialize in Accounting. I was born in U.S. but I lived in Japan for most of my life. Whenever I'm free I either go out to eat with friends or watch dramas. I'm very excited to see how all the SISA events turn out this year!
Hello! I'm a second year student from Kobe, Japan. Probably awkward and weird at first, but I promise I'm not that bad once you get to know me! Business is what I'm all about, but I'm particularly interested in marketing and accounting (so far). I love being creative, but the analytical side of business intrigues me just as much. I'm really hoping SISA will allow me to explore my interests with business, and SUPER excited to getting to know you all!
Hi I'm Patrick the new VP logistics for SISA! I'm currently in my 3rd year pursuing a double major in Marketing and Human Resources and in particular interested in areas like international business and brand management. The international potential of business really sparks my interest and I'd love to go overseas for that purpose in the future. I enjoy dancing as a hobby and simply travelling around to different restaurants with friends and trying out as many different things available!
Hello Everyone! My name is Chirag Kapoor and I'm a third year Accounting student. Just like any other international student, my UBC journey has been a roller coaster ride. My aim as the VP Finance is to strengthen the financial position of the club so that we have the adequate resources to be the safety belt in this roller coaster journey of not just international students, but the entire Sauder community.
Hey there, I'm Nathan and I'm currently a fourth year Sauder student who's specializing in Finance. Even though I'm specializing in Finance I have a passion for marketing. I've been blessed to have the opportunity to work on big projects with Logitech, Microsoft, and more! I also absolutely love traveling and have just come back from studying a semester abroad at the National University of Singapore. Over that time I was able to travel almost every week to a new country or city!
My name is Rimi Iizuka and I am a second year student that is planning to go into marketing. I like anything that is related to design and exploring small art galleries around Vancouver. I have a passion for flowers and I love picking and preserving them, even though they often result in a million bug bites on my legs.
My names is Xiangru Cheng and you can call me Pixie. I am a third year Sauder student specializing in Finance and I am so excited to be your VP External next year. I love traveling, trying new food and meeting new people. When I am not in Sauder, you can always see me sweating out at the gym doing hot yoga, playing X-BOX with friends, making dessert, or rushing on my way to school. I am a very happy person and I hope my happy personality could bring you energy. I'm excitied to meet all of you!
Hey everyone! My name is Pamela and I'm currently a second year here at Sauder! I'm thinking of specializing in accounting just because I get satisfaction when my balance sheets balance. I'm a huge fan of eating, specifically sushi and anything sour (I love pineapples) or matcha. In my spare time, you can find my sleeping (probably too much) or watching an entire TV series in an insanely short amount of time.
Hi! I'm a third year student in the Dual Degree Program between Sauder and SciencesPo. I spent two years in France studying Europe-Asian relations and majoring in Law, but I'm originally from Burnaby, so I've been both an international and a domestic student. I'm interested in going into corporate law in the future, particularly international business. Other than academics, I like to read, drink tea, and talk to strangers about Hamilton the musical and supply chain management. Feel free to reach out about any and all of the above topics, or if you're just feeling alone in a new city!
